Microblading
Microblading Overview
Microblading mimics natural eyebrow hair using a manual hand tool. Microblading is a semi permanent tattoo that lasts 1-3 years. Suggested upkeep requires a yearly appointment called a “color boost” to reinforce the vibrancy of the pigment implanted into the skin. If microblading is performed correctly and you choose to not upkeep your microblade, the pigment will exfoliate out completely in roughly 3-5 years.
Microblading is not makeup replacement if you are applying heavy brow powder every day. It is meant to enhance your brows while keeping them very natural like giving you a fuller hair like look. Brow powered may or may not be needed after procedure.
Contraindications
Microblading should not be performed if you have any of the following conditions:
- allergies to latex, iodine, or other commonly used body art products
- Injecting any blood thinners like aspirin, ibuprofen within 24hrs of procedure
- STI’s
- Lupus
- Rosacea
- Psoriasis
- autoimmune diseases
- hemophillia
- diabetes
What to Expect
Come to your appointment preferably without make upon. If that’s unavoidable, don’t worry, we have make up remover on hand. At your appointment we will map out your eyebrows and give you an eyebrow shape that enhances your natural brows. After we map you will be numbed for 20 minutes. While you are numbing a color will be chosen. After numbing is complete the microblading starts and takes about 45 minutes to an hour to complete. AFTERCARE IS KEY. Your brows will be dark the first-third day and then start to lighten. They will go through a phase where the strokes almost disappear, don’t panic! Around week 2.5-3 the strokes resurface and you will return in 4-6 weeks for your touch up. Some, not most, do require a third touch up.
A Closer Look at Microblading
What Is Microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent tattooing technique that uses a manual hand tool to create hair-like strokes, mimicking the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs. Unlike traditional tattooing, which uses a machine, microblading deposits pigment just beneath the skin’s surface for a softer, more realistic effect. This procedure is ideal for those who want to enhance the shape, fullness, or definition of their brows.
How Long Does Microblading Last?
One of the key benefits of microblading is its longevity. The results typically last between 1 to 3 years, depending on factors like skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Over time, the pigment gradually fades as it is naturally exfoliated by the skin.
The Importance of Color Boost Appointments
To maintain the vibrancy of your microbladed brows, it’s recommended to schedule an annual touch-up, often referred to as a “color boost.” This session reinforces the pigment and ensures your brows continue to look fresh and well-defined. If you choose not to undergo touch-ups, the pigment will fade entirely over 3 to 5 years, leaving no permanent traces.
Is Microblading Right for You?
Microblading is designed to enhance the natural appearance of your eyebrows, making them look fuller and more defined. However, it’s important to set realistic expectations. If you rely heavily on brow powders or pomades for a bold look, microblading may not completely replace your makeup routine. Instead, it provides a subtle, natural enhancement, creating a “your brows but better” effect.
Do You Still Need Makeup After Microblading?
For some, microblading eliminates the need for additional brow makeup, while others may still choose to use light brow powders or gels to achieve their desired look. The need for makeup largely depends on personal preferences and the final result of the procedure.
Key Benefits of Microblading
Natural Appearance: The fine, hair-like strokes blend seamlessly with your existing brows for a realistic look.
Time-Saving: Say goodbye to spending extra time filling in your brows every morning.
Semi-Permanent Solution: Enjoy long-lasting results without the commitment of permanent tattooing.
Customizable: The shape, color, and density of your brows can be tailored to suit your facial features and style.
Proper Aftercare for Long-Lasting Results
After your microblading session, following the aftercare instructions provided by your technician is crucial. This typically includes avoiding water, sweat, and sun exposure for the first few days, as well as applying recommended ointments to aid healing. Proper aftercare ensures the pigment sets correctly and extends the life of your new brows.
Microblading is an excellent option for those looking to enhance their eyebrows with a natural and low-maintenance solution. By understanding the process, maintenance requirements, and benefits, you can make an informed decision about whether this technique is right for you. Whether you’re seeking a subtle enhancement or a more defined brow shape, microblading offers a customizable approach to achieving your dream brows. With the right care and periodic touch-ups, your brows will remain a stunning focal point for years to come.
